About Maclean’s Magazine
Maclean’s is one of Canada’s longest-running and most recognizable national publications. Founded in 1905, the magazine has spent more than a century documenting the people, political debates, cultural shifts and major events shaping Canada.
Its coverage extends beyond breaking news to include in-depth reporting, thoughtful commentary and long-form storytelling about national politics, business, education, health, social issues, science, technology, culture and life in Canada. Maclean’s is also known for its university rankings, profiles of influential Canadians and special reports examining how the country is changing.
Once published weekly, Maclean’s now produces monthly print editions while maintaining an active digital presence. The publication is owned by St. Joseph Communications, which acquired it from Rogers Media in 2019. Sarah Fulford currently serves as editor-in-chief.
Today, Maclean’s describes itself as a general-interest publication offering sharp analysis and a distinctly Canadian perspective. Its stories are intended not only to report what is happening, but also to explain why it matters and how national and international developments affect Canadians.
According to current information from its publisher, Maclean’s reaches approximately 1.5 million magazine readers and a combined monthly Canadian print and digital audience of about 3.1 million. Those figures replace the outdated claim that it reached 2.4 million readers as Canada’s only national weekly current-affairs magazine.
